Feng Shui refers to the placement of items, designated with the Colors yellow, green, and red, in your house to improve "luck" in gameplay.
The Feng Shui space is within two spots of the west, south, and east walls of each room. In Tobidase Doubutsu no Mori, Feng Shui space also includes the west, south, and east walls, themselves. Items must be completely within Feng Shui space in order to "count."
What "counts" is the Color count of the items within Feng Shui space. For example, a Tulip Table is red/green. If it is placed in red Feng Shui space, its red count is 1. If it is placed in green Feng Shui space, its green count is 1. Consider an Executive Toy, which is red/red. If it is placed in red Feng Shui space, its red count is 2. For this reason, the size of an item does not matter (i.e., a large (2x2) item "counts" the same as a small (1x1) item; its "effect" is not quadrupled). For example, a Jingle Table is red/green. If it is placed in red Feng Shui space, its red count is still only 1, despite it taking up four spots in your house.
Clothing items are also designated with Color. They "count" for Feng Shui, too.
Feng Shui space "overlaps" in the southwest and southeast corners of rooms. This does not change Color count. A Froggy Chair placed in "yellow/green" or "green/red" Feng Shui space still has a green count of 2. Both the southwest and southeast corners are part of green Feng Shui space.
Place yellow items near or on the west (left) walls of your rooms to: ...decrease the price of items sold by villagers ...increase the probability of success of Bell Trees ...decrease the cost of art appearing in [Crazy Redd's] Tsunekichi's {Yeo-uk's} tent
Place green items near or on the south (bottom) walls to: ...increase the probability of Spotlight items appearing at Mametsubu's ...increase the probability of genuine art appearing in [Crazy Redd's] Tsunekichi's {Yeo-uk's} tent ...increase the probability of receiving genuine art from villagers ...increase the probability of receiving exclusive items from [Saharah] Rolland {Sahara} ...decrease the probability of embarrassing sounds when sitting
Place red items near or on the east (right) walls to: ...increase the probability of receiving Mario Theme and Nintendo Set items from Fortune Cookies ...increase the probability of receiving genuine art from villagers ...increase the probability of receiving exclusive items from [Saharah] Rolland {Sahara} ...decrease the probability of embarrassing sounds when sitting
Feng Shui has no effect on the availability of fish or insects. Do not confuse real-life luck with in-game luck (a.k.a. Feng Shui). Perception is often not reality.
Contrary to popular belief, Lucky items, by themselves, do not increase Feng Shui. Lucky items behave like all other items: if they are designated as yellow, green, or red, they can increase Feng Shui if properly placed in Feng Shui space.
Just as in prior versions, wearing a Lucky Clover has no effect on in-game luck or any other gameplay.
To maximize Feng Shui: a) Place Wall Leaves and/or Shamrock Clocks on the south walls. b) Place Lily-Pad Tables along the south walls. c) Place Li'l Bro's Hats, Frog Caps, Watermelon Hats, Tyrolean Hats, Tingle Hats, Wizard's Caps, Leaf Masks, Headscarves, Green Caps, Green Knit Hats, Green Headgears, Melon Hats, Eye Masks, Cucumber Packs, Twigs, Green Glasses, and/or Green Feathers on the Lily-Pad Tables. d) Place Tulip Tables along the east walls. e) Place Executive Toys, Dollies, Christmas Candles, Kettles, Red Boom Boxes, Dharmas, Giant Dharmas, Mini-Dharmas, Metronomes, Maple Bonsais, Red Caps, Celebration Hats, Red Headgears, Red Ribbons, Red Team Hats, Red Hoods, Bicycle Helmets, Bandanas, Racing Helmets, Wrestling Masks, Red Noses, Red Glasses, Red Feathers, Red Roses, Red Tulips, Red Pansies, Red Cosmos, Red Lilies, and/or Red Carnations on the Tulip Tables. f) Place Lemon Tables along the west walls. g) Place Egypt Lamps, Buckets, Odd Clocks, Tea Kettles, Football Helmets, Safety Helmets, Yellow Caps, Yellow Ribbons, Swimming Caps, Diving Masks, Tulip Hats, School Commute Hats, Moon Hairpins, Halos, Star Hairpins, Roman Helmets, Wario Hats, Yellow Glasses, Beaks, Lemon Packs, Yellow Feathers, Yellow Roses, Yellow Tulips, Yellow Pansies, Sun Cosmos, Yellow Lilies, Yellow Violets, and/or Dandelions on the Lemon Tables.
