27) VILLAGER INTERACTIONS
******************************************************************************
A maximum of ten animal villagers can reside in your town. The tenth villager
will be one you met either in another town or at the Campground.
When in a villagers house, you may find an item inside their storage device.
After closing the storage device, the villager may ask you whether you would
like to have the item.
Occasionally, you can enter a villager's house to find them ill. Bring them up
to three doses, one per day, of Medicine bought from Nook to cure them.
A villager will mail you an invitation about a week before their birthday.
That will give you enough time to get them a special birthday present. Try
getting clothing of their favorite Visual Impression or something of their
favorite Color. Buy Wrapping Paper to wrap it.
On a villager's birthday, they will be hosting a party in their house from 6am
to Midnight, attended by one other villager. Stop by to wish them, "Happy
Birthday," and give them a birthday present. You may get a return present from
the villager in the mail.
Villagers can see you, make a recognition Reaction (four white marks with bell
chime), and run up to you to wait for a Special Conversation. Speak to the
villager and experience one of the following:
1) The villager can give you advice or information, like details about a
Special Visitor.
2) The villager can offer to buy an item that is currently in your pockets or
offer to sell you an item.
3) The villager can add an item to your Public Works list.
4) The villager can ask you to change their catchphrase or their greeting.
5) The villager can ask your opinion about them moving out of town on a
specified date. (The first response says you don't want them to move away.)
6) The villager can gossip about other players.
7) The villager can give you a new nickname.
The villager can ask you to enter a conversation to settle a dispute.
9) The villager can react to you catching a Flea on them.
Here are examples of requests made by villagers:
1) Villagers can ask you to bring them fish or insects. They might specify
that they want freshwater fish or saltwater fish. They might ask for a general
type of insect, like "butterfly."
2) Villagers can ask you to bring them any type of fruit or a specific type of
fruit. They may ask you to bring them "delicious" fruit.
3) Occasionally you can find an otoshimono, or "thing inadvertently dropped and
lost," in your town. It can take the form of a an aqua-colored bag, a book, a
mitten, or a paper bag. Speak to your villagers in order to return the item to
it's owner. You can also check with [Copper] Omawari-san A {Gyeongchalgwan A}
or [Booker] Omawari-san B {Gyeongchalgwan B} to see if it belongs to them.
4) Villagers may ask you to bury a Time Capsule. After you dig a hole, select
the Time Capsule from your letter inventory to bury it. The next day, the
ground "X" will disappear. After two weeks, three weeks, or 30 days, it will
reappear. Dig up the Time Capsule, and return it to the villager.
5) Villagers can ask you to circulate a petition for signatures. They may ask
for six signatures from another town.
6) They may ask you to deliver a green-ribbon-wrapped present to another
villager. You can open the present and take the item, but you may make your
villager angry. The recipient may ask you to guess what type of item (e.g.,
furniture, clothing, etc.) is in the present. The recipient may even offer to
sell you the present, unopened!
7) Villagers can ask to visit you in your home or to visit them in their home.
They might ask you to schedule a time in the future. Or, they will follow you,
all through town, as you lead them either to your home or their home.
Villagers may ask you to find another villager and escort them to the first
villager's house.
9) Villagers can ask you to play hide-and-seek.
10) Villagers may ask you to give them a certain type of furniture, like a
table or a chair or may ask you for furniture of a certain size. They can even
ask you to bring them furniture that can be placed on top of a table.
Villagers can give you a random item, like furniture, an insect, a fish, a
seafood, a gyroid, or a fossil.
To annoy villagers (reduce friendship):
1) Push them around for five seconds (or until they get angry).
2) Hit them three times with the Blip Blop Hammer.
3) Accept their request, then fail or refuse to fulfill it.
4) Give them garbage as a present on their birthday.
5) When they ask for "delicious" fruit, give them "worm-eaten" fruit instead.
